Lecture Series – Buz Carpenter, Pilot

On May 15th, Buz Carpenter will be coming to The Cannon Tap Room at Brass Cannon Brewing to discuss his piloting an SR-71, in which he flew worldwide as a commander and later, Instructor Pilot with over 65+ operational missions accruing 777 hours of flight time.

Buz Carpenter is from Oakland, California and graduated from the USAF Academy in June 1967. He then completed pilot training at Williams AFB, AZ Sept 1968. He has flown a variety of aircraft models during his illustrious career. Currently he is a retired Colonel and volunteers as a Docent at The Udvar Hazy Center of the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum, Dulles airport.

In 2017, Carpenter was inducted into the Virginia Aviation Hall of Fame and has appeared in numerous videos for the Smithsonian, Lockheed Corporation, and the Great Courses. Additionally Buz produces podcasts and participates in Air Museum symposia.
